NGAV & Backups

This document explains how next-generation antivirus (NGAV) and backups work within Simplified Solutions. These protections operate automatically in the background and provide additional layers of security and resilience for your devices.

NGAV and backups are enabled based on your Organization’s subscription tier and are applied consistently to all enrolled devices within that Organization.

Next-Generation Antivirus (NGAV)

NGAV provides advanced protection against modern threats such as ransomware, fileless malware, and zero-day attacks.

Unlike traditional antivirus tools that rely primarily on known signatures, NGAV uses behavioral analysis and artificial intelligence to detect suspicious activity in real time.

When NGAV is enabled:

  • Devices are continuously monitored for malicious behavior.
  • Threats can be blocked or contained automatically.
  • Security events are reported through the Dashboard and device details.

In some cases, NGAV protection also includes human-led threat review and response, providing additional oversight for complex or high-risk situations.

Backups

Backups protect your data by creating secure copies that can be restored if files are lost, damaged, or encrypted by malware.

When backups are enabled:

  • Devices perform automated backups on a regular schedule.
  • Backup activity runs in the background without disrupting normal use.
  • Backup status is monitored and reported in the platform.

Backups are designed to provide a reliable recovery option in the event of hardware failure, accidental deletion, or security incidents.

How NGAV and Backups Work Together

NGAV and backups serve different but complementary purposes.

NGAV focuses on preventing and stopping threats before damage occurs, while backups provide a safety net if recovery is needed.

Together, they help reduce risk and minimize downtime by combining prevention, detection, and recovery.

What You Will See in the Dashboard

When NGAV and backups are active, you may see related information in:

  • Device health indicators.
  • Security and maintenance activity summaries.
  • Alerts when attention is required.

Routine scans and completed backups are normal and indicate that protection is working as intended.

What You Need to Do

In most cases, no action is required.

NGAV and backups are managed automatically based on your Organization’s configuration. Reviewing alerts or device details is only necessary if an issue is flagged.

This automated approach provides strong protection while keeping ongoing management simple.
