Understanding Device Status
Once a device appears on the Dashboard, it is assigned a status that reflects its current condition. Understanding device status helps you quickly determine whether a device is operating normally or needs attention.
Device status is calculated automatically based on health checks, alerts, and recent activity.
Healthy
A device marked as healthy is online, reporting correctly, and does not have any outstanding issues.
Healthy devices are fully protected and operating within expected parameters.
Needs Attention
A device marked as needing attention has one or more non-critical issues.
Examples include pending updates, recent alerts, or conditions that should be reviewed but do not represent immediate risk.
Devices in this state continue to be monitored and protected.
Unhealthy
An unhealthy device has one or more significant issues that should be addressed.
This may include repeated failures, unresolved alerts, or security-related concerns.
Reviewing the device details page will provide more information about what is contributing to the unhealthy status.
Offline or Unknown
If a device is offline or unable to report, its status may be shown as unknown.
This typically means the device is powered off, disconnected from the network, or temporarily unable to communicate with the platform.
Offline devices are still considered enrolled and protected but may have limited visibility until they reconnect.
How Status Is Used
Device status is intended to provide quick visibility rather than require constant monitoring.
Reviewing devices that need attention or are unhealthy helps prioritize follow-up while healthy devices can generally be left alone.
Status updates automatically as conditions change, ensuring the Dashboard reflects the current state of your environment.
